LB7: duramax has a bunch of blowby, surges while idling and smokes from under hood?

picked up a 2002 project truck, seems to run decent but has blowby, enough to lift filler cap up, I ran balance rates on injectors they seem pretty good, truck always starts fine then starts smoking from under hood mainly out of blowby hose, not positive but it looks like there is maybe diesel in oil, it was kinda hard to see and oil on dipstick. Any suggestions? thinking of doing a comresssion test now? recommendations on where to get the right fitting for testing duramax?

Sounds pretty safe to say you'll be taking that thing apart. Time to rebuild or replace.

Drain the oil, sounds like some big fuel leakage into crankcase. They'll smoke out the breather when the crankcase is filled up with fuel, you will have a harder time seeing the oil on the dips tick as well.

Cracked injector body, leaking injector fuel line. A fuel line in the head could be cracked/leaking and filling your crankcase.

So we ran compression test. 7 were at 425 and 1 was at 325.
