I'd rather have a smallblock in it. Though I do think the work done to it looks great, just not my bag baby. And that reserve is crazy I figured it would go for about $70,000

I seriously doubt that he has more than 140 in it, especially since he said he did a lot of the work himself, and I'll bet if the truth were known, it was his friends who were bidding it up.

He will be lucky if someone pays him 80K in this economy and I think Ken is correct. His buddies ran the bid up. He didn't sell it for the 142K because it was phony as far as the bid goes.

He's finding out that you can't always get back (or make more) when you modify a vehicle to your liking.

The only way that happens is if you find one of those cars that was "lost in time" go to a barnyard and find a 1969 Chevelle Yenko, spend 100,000$ restoring it and then it will sell from 500,000 to 1,000,000 but to take a generic Chevelle and do a really good cool powerplant swap into it and say you want 250,000 is just asinine

X2, A resto rod '66 Vette stingray coupe hard top frame up LS7 best of everything I helped build with over 160k in it sold at the OC Barrett Jackson for only 83 if i remember correctly. You build cars like these to love them not to make your money back he should have jumped on the 142k offer and even took his knee pads with him to thank the buyer.

You cannot jump on the 142K when you put your buddy up to it especialy when your buddy lives in a rented trailer in a park.
