:stirthepot2: I am just stirring the pot since I am sure will have a failure before he will.

My luck is so bad, it could be raining women and a queer would fall on me!
Hahaha

I've got to wipe my phone off now cause I just spit sweet tea all over it when I read that!

Who is this Russell character, hasn't he been MIA for years. Lol.

We were pressuring the coolant system rapidly after all the abuse we have been putting this thing through. Ended up finding a nice little crack in a bad location. I will make a post with details so we can keep folks in the loop.

Who was working on much stronger cast blocks? I know it was an effort for a pulling class that would've been stronger than LML blocks for the 01-16 guys.

What about resleeving the block with darton sleeves or something similar? I know it's a common practice on higher hp gasser builds, mostly in aluminum blocks, but might be worth looking ........

.020 over

Me, Bandstra and Richard all cracked blocks. All 3 .20 over. All 3 overheated them soon before failure. All 3 in the same power range. (Richard being the lowest). I think the heat kills them. On my new build I went with new block hoping that extra material helps.

I am sure the .020 doesnt help but I feel the heat is the primary culprit and the wall thickness happens to be the corresponding weak link.

Yes, this! Sleeve that bitch with ductile iron or steel.
The cast iron block will crack cylinders. Ductile will flex more before cracking. I have seen a ductile sleeve placed in a vise and squeezed and then return to its normal round shape. Then they tried the normal cast iron sleeve and it cracked with very little deflection.
