I rarely switch tunes on my DSP5. My DD runs high 12s, gets 18 mpg, is nice & smooth and doesnt smoke. So it is kind of pointless. I will be running my race tune all by itself this year. Since the truck is not my daily vehicle anymore, I really don't see a need for the DSP.

CA smog is nothing. Seriously. Blue passed with a max race tune loaded.

Personally, I have no need for smoke, valet, or lope tunes.

But sometimes I DO need a DSP5 tune:

1) Tune that craps out at 2000rpm so I can remember what it was like before shimming PRV's.

2) Tune that idles like crap and blows white smoke, so I can pretend I have an LB7 with bad injectors.

3) Tune that passes CA emissions (aka - any race tune written in the last 5 years).

4) Tune for letting people drive my truck that shouldn't. This has zero'd out throttle position table.

5) Tune that billows out black smoke for no reason, so I can fit in with the Dodge Boys who think smoke == power.

:roflmao::roflmao::roflmao::roflmao: And x2 on the PTO engagement, I thought my lift pump died the other night, till I realiezed my high idle was on

I have 5 tunes in the race truck and love it

It's all the same tune just increase in timing and pw

Mine is simular but being its a daily driver I do have a tow tune, street tune, and 3 different race versions so I dont have to reflash any changes at the track. If someone takes my truck I will turn it to the tow or street tune and pull the key from the switch so its locked lol.

The reason I was asking is that if I do go to TS, I really want Dave to dyno my truck one last time. Id like to get numbers from both the stock and race tunes to compare to a few years ago.
I highly doubt he'd have time to let me load tunes when he and Mike have 30 other trucks to run....and besides, it would be rude of me even to ask. Better to just "flip a switch".

My race tune is essentially "stock" til about 50% throttle, then it ramps up smoothly. I could run it on the street, but not in winter. Too easy to lose it on snow.

Tom , that would be pretty easy to setup. Use a dsp2 switch and put the stock timing, pulse width, and fuel pressure tables in the DSP2 position. Should get a pretty accurate stock HP reading

If you need some help setting it up, maybe we can meet up at Milan Dragway and do a little racing here in a month when it opens and set it up. I have a bag full of LB7 ECM pins and tons of stuff to make up DSP2/5 switches.

May have to take you up on that.

Going to be spending most of April getting the truck ready for May. :) Couple shakedown runs toward the end of the month may be just the ticket.
