Ok, so what's the story with the freeze plug? Obviously it was causing some coolant problems, but what exactly was it doing and how did you fix it?

Oooooooooooooooooooooh, you mean the big opening where the coolant flows from the flywheel housing into the block? That's gotta hurt! I don't think I ever heard/read that anywhere before. I never would have suspected that in a million years if I was having problems.

Yea we found it out after many hrs on the phone, Had him make plates to pressure check the block and we found it werd that it never crossed over to the other side.

After hooking up the air to this and it not dropping off in air press,We thought we had a rag or something stuck in there......ended up removing the oil cooler and building another plater for the rear cover and still not dropping off I reached in to feel the frost plug:eek: Out comes the motor

It was by far, the gayest F-up I have ever found in all my years of wrenching! with that plug in there, there is "0" coolant circulation in the block!! It goes to the oil cooler and stops shortly after!!

Congrats Simon on getting her running again. I take it your machine shop had never seen a Dmax block before, and they didnt realize the coolant went thru the rear housing? Ugh.

Henry's a good guy to have around, isnt he? Glad he was able to help you figure it out.
