DRL delete

My headlights are burned out again, since I change them at the same time they go out within a couple of hours of each other. And since it is such a pain to pull the grill to change the headlights I wondered about turning off my daytime running lamps.
Has anyone done this, I am hoping it is as a simple as pulling a relay, anything to make the lamps last a little longer.

The '08 does not have a separate lamp for DRL, that's why I want to turn them off but still have headlights.

I remember seeing this a looooong time ago. If you go to your wire cluster that plugs to the bcm under the steering colum you cut two wires and out a certain size resistor between them to trick the photo-eye on your dash thinking its dark. Try google

but then your headlights will always stay on defeating the point

On most GM vehicles, including my 2009 DMax, after you start the truck and pull it out of park(auto); not sure about manual trans, pump the headlight on/off switch once to the far left and the DRL's will go off until you shut off the car/truck. I do it every time I start mine.

A little more clarification on turning off/on the DRL's. When the switch is in the auto position turn(pump) it once toward the on/off power symbol(circle w/ bar in it). This is a spring loaded portion of the switch. Once the vehicle is running and in gear this will turn off the DRL's if daylight and all lights if dark. Pumping the switch one more time will turn whatever back on to the auto function.
Hope this helps. As far as I remember this has worked on all GM cars/trucks I have been around ever since the Auto/DRL functions were added to the switches. Column mounted switch works the same way.

I'll try that tonight. Taking out the grill and the attached bumper cover is such a PITA.

I pulled a fuse or two in my lmm. Under hood fuse box

Under the hood of the LML's there are 2 fuses to pull for DRL - left and right. My headlights were always burning out, like every other month. Switched to LED bulbs and pulled the DRL fuses and that was 1.5 years ago (200,000 miles) and I am on the same bulbs.
