What are the pros and cons with steel vs aluminum?
Can I just get that yoke cut off and have a new one welded on? Like a billet one?

I know nothing about welding...Can you weld billet aluminum to non billet aluminum?
Steel can take much more abuse, only con is the aluminum is lighter.
adding a billet yoke wont make much difference for the center section of tube, thats still the weakest point, you created that weak point due to axle wrap. your issue that caused that damage has been addressed so even a stock yoke would be just fine in its place.
Maybe I can find a stock shaft locally?
There any used ones around? I know when I twisted my stock one, gm wanted $1000 for a new one.

Doesn't Tony, there at ALL SEASONS offer up specialty yokes and whatnot?
Just called the truck recycler, they don't have one, closest within 600miles is Fresno, CA and Pueblo, CO. One for $375 and the other for $350.
