So was all set to pin my water pump and none of my bits will do the trick. What bit is everyone using to get the job done? Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks!

So you keyed it hahaThe shaft is to hard, normal drill bit won't even touch it. You'll need a carbide end mill to do it. I ended up just drilling down the side of the shaft (impeller side) about 1/4 inch deep on 2 sides and then filling the holes in with weld, focusing the heat on to the shaft mostly since the impeller is cast iron. The weld keeps the impeller from spinning in any way, shape or form. The gear side can be welded normally since the gear is steel and not cast iron.
So you keyed it haha
