I was trying to search aw32 duramax but wasn't finding much. A bunch of people using it with success? Figured I could get a gal of some type of aw32 hydraulic oil from tractor supply.

Search power steering pump and see what you get.

I was reading that earlier. I've read so much I don't remember what is what.

So it sounds like most people use power steering fluid and some use atf.

I didn't buy that stuff. Went to advance and they has some deals going on. Buy 1 get half off next one. Got 2 qts of brake fluid and 4 qts of valvoline max life power steering fluid. Also couldn't get another cal of the same dex/merc so got 2 gal of Castrol dex/merc.

Welp, 300 miles towing the 12k lb toy hauler and didn't blow up so that's good.

Got about 9.3 mpg. My speedo is off along with the fuel milage gauge. At 65 mph on the gauge I was doing about 70 per gps. Fuel milage gauge was reading 10.4 mpg.

Trans temp got up to just under 200 and coolant got up to just under 210. Torque pro said coolant was 195. I didn't setup the trans temp right so will have to mess with it.

If your not ready for steaded heads, or a complete rebuild and u want to keep track of whats in your fluids that is supposed to be and what is not supposed to be there 14 and change may give you a little reassurance. Hot Shot Secret is where you can get the kits. Comes w a return label and contents detail sheet. The lady ive spoke with seems quite knowledable about the interpretation of each sample. They will give you a detailed analysis of each sample.

$14 isn't bad! I did Blackstone oil analysis on my ford. Very good idea. They can tell you if you have coolant and just about everything in your oil.

Just drained the radiator but looking for th block drains. Think I found the driver side right next to the trans but not sure about the passenger side. Someone above said by the starter. Do you have to remove the starter to drain it there?

Thanks for any info!

Fyi, the one on the driver side is oil so...

The one above the starter didn't have any paint on it, need to find a pic because that looks kind of hard to put back in if oil starts coming out again.

So, screw that drain plug and just doing the best flush without it. I read that it should be 6 gal I the system? Can only get about 3 gal out at a time so just going to flush with distilled water as much as I can then top off with 3 gal of dexcool.

The block drains are very near the front of the engine.

U found 1 I think with yellow paint right above the starter. Just a pain to get to without taking the starter out. Coolant looked good and should have just drained, changed thermostats, and top off with 50/50. Too late now.

If you know for sure where the block drains are please share with a pic. Thanks!

Done with coolant flush, thermostats, and cap. Short trip after my operating temp went up 15 to 20 degrees. Sitting at 185 to 190 now using the torque pro app.

Power steering fluid next.

Just did my power steering fluid flush. The old stuff was nasty. Anyone putting a filter in their system? Would like to put one in due to how bad my fluid was and before I start replacing parts. Have some play in my steering box output shaft and fluid residue on my brake booster and master cylinder.
