Idk what was in the ford but after I was done it had rotella elc and a coolant filter. I guess the 6.0s are real bad with the nasty stuff. On the 6.0s the egr cooler would cook the coolest or something and mess it up. The egr on the 6.6 was just deleted in September so not sure if there are similar problems. 7.3s didn't have a cooling problem but I still had sludge come out.

No real coolant issues on the Duramax. Just keep it topped off and change it according to the manual

Sounds good, Google didn't really show anyone in the duramax using it.

$650.00 for a single tow tune? Someone got the shaft!

You should be able to log injector on time (pulse width) and fuel pressure with that app, that will give us an idea how big the tune is, and whether or not it will hurt your trans towing heavy.

I will get that setup and give it a shot. Looking for peak numbers?

Idk what all he did to the computer. Guess I could try to call and find out or have the prior owner call.

I took a screen shot when I first hooked up the torque pro to the truck.

For the injector pulse width, should I do the same type of screen shot?

Pulse will vary greatly while driving around, just need to find the number it runs while wide open. Probably be in the 1600-1800 range depending on what kind of tow tune it is.

Rog. I will set it up to record the highest reading and screenshot the results. Might be a few days before I can get to it.

Ok. Picked up what I could from Walmart. Need another gal of trans fluid, 5w-30 for transfer case, might get another 8 or so gal of water so I can run it twice to flush system. No issues with what I have so far?

What power steering fluid are you using?
For the power steering fluid just unhook the return line from the hydroboost (rubber line) and run a longer hose into a catch can. With the truck running, start pumping the brakes and turning the steering wheel 1/4-1/2 turn either way. Make sure you keep the reservoir filled and keep doing it till you get clean fluid. Probably take about a gallon.

No need to use distilled water for cleaning and flushing the coolant system. Just use potable water from your house. When you do the final fill you can use the distilled water. And you may need to flush it more then twice so save some money and stick the garden hose in it

pull the block drain on the pass side just above the starter (yellow bolt head), that will get any left over non distilled or old coolant out of the block and let you get a real close 50/50 or 60/40 mixture in.

Good info guys! Thanks! I was told the block drain plugs were a pain but will give it a shot.

Valvoline dex/merc good?

The trans filter on there now is blue so ordered a new allison filter and magnet just incase it's missing.

I get a little ocd with some things. If I can get block plug out I will probably drain and flush with water hose, then flush with distilled water 1 or 2 times before putting coolant in it.

It's 8 gal right? So dump the 4 of coolant then top off with distilled water is the plan.

I was trying to search aw32 duramax but wasn't finding much. A bunch of people using it with success? Figured I could get a gal of some type of aw32 hydraulic oil from tractor supply.

I just use ATF in my power steering. At least until I replace it. Developing a leak so I'm not going to keep topping it off with any expensive fluid

i dont remember ever getting 8 into these trucks even on a fresh new engine going in but i also throw 1 gal of coolant in, 1 gal of distilled in, then use either empty jug to do 50/50 mixes.
