Drag Strip Wheels ???

I had a set of drag radials last year but they didn't hook up nearly as well as my old 30X14s. I wish I never sold the old set but live and learn. I want to get a new setup for this season but can't make up my mind on wheels Real racing 16x10s are light but pricey. Bogarts seem to be outrageous money. This has me leaning towards either the Raceline renegades or a set of Mickey Thompson Classic IIIs. Just curious if anyone has weighed the latter 2 wheels. i know they won't be as light as Real or Bogarts but for the amount of times I will use them I'm not sure I could justify the extra $$. Any thoughts? GO

Procomp makes a 16x10 as well as Eagle Alloy. Assuming they are too heavy?

I guess I just said Classic IIIs as a baseline. The procomp and eagle alloy look almost identical and are probably close in weight. They are both good options.

At this point it doesn't matter what they look like I just want a wheel that's super light that's 10 wide. raceline are still around 25lbs, procomp makes a few that fit the requirement but no weight is listed and eagle has barely anything in a 16x10

MT website only shows 16x8 for the classic am I missing something

Do not quote me but back when we switched to Reals I weighed them. A non beadlock Real was 16.x lb and a pro comp classic 2 style was 23 or 4. Both 16x10's. I know I remember correctly on the real but not entirely confident my pro comp # is accurate. Either way, I remember being disappointed in all the more weight we saved per wheel.

How much are a set of Bogart 16 x 10s ? Are they custom built to specs ? What DRs did you run ? I’m assuming the 30 x 14s your referring to are the M & H cheater slicks . I’m asking all these questions because I too may be switching Wheel/Tire combo as well .

M&H cheaters work very good. I have some Ultra wheels that look like the Mickey Thompson wheels. I think the combo is 45 lbs. I cut 1.60s at full weight on my crew cab. They hook up very good. Well enough I sheared the torque convertor bolts.

My current setup has only dead hooked in tune 3 . Tune 4 spun a little out of the hole . Tune 5 spun so bad out of hole it got all squirrelly. I changed over to 3.42 gears although I’ve yet to make any runs at the track.

16x10 procomps and some 30x14 cheaters are around 41lbs per corner I believe

Since Steve started this I would like to have a setup previously mentioned but its not in the budget. I'll be running kuhmo AT's on pyos. What's a good and safe psi to run these at?

16x10 procomps and some 30x14 cheaters are around 41lbs per corner I believe
50-51lbs for that setup

With the Toyos, I always started at 36/30 and went from there, depending on weather/track conditons. Unfortunately, there's no real "normal" -- you've got to experiment.

Even though they are expensive, I was always hoping to go with Bogarts simply b/c they're the only wheel Ive found to match the older Centerlines I have for the fronts.

The Bogarts are $550 per wheel and the guy said they would be between 15 and 20lbs. He said he wasn't sure on the exact weight because they would be building them a bit beefier than their standard wheels because of the truck's weight. The last setup was 305/45R18 ET Street R's mounted on 18x9 BMFs. They definitely hooked much better than any street tire but I found that if I hit them too hard they would still spin. The 30x14 M&H cheaters I had didn't seem to care what I did to them. They just dead hooked and went. The new 88mm charger on my truck doesn't seem to spool as fast as the 83 so I think that being able to build more boost on the line would be a big help. I also have 3.42s and the radials still felt a bit short on the big end.

50-51lbs for that setup

Russ, I had 285’s and was around 30 all the way around.

Still had traction issues but I am blaming the track. Lol

American Racing 27.5lbs
Mickey Thompsons 26.6lbs
Pro Comp 28.10lbs
Racelines 26.35lbs

Talking about a 10lb difference per corner between these and the Real or Bogarts. Price difference would be about $1500. I just don't think the weight is enough to justify the added costs.

I agree in theory but I don't have any real world drag racing expertise to actually say yes/no.

Personally, I'd buy what every is cheapest out of that group and put the saved $ into fuel to get to the track. From what I've seen lots of fast passes have been made on those style rims.

More likely that the money saved will go towards a trailer so I can tow this pig around.

I run 17x10 fuel Mavericks on 390/40 r17 M&H radials, probably not the lightest setup but have no problems cutting 1.40s at 6300lbs
