WoW! That's new??

Or did I just miss it all these years?

That would be the Ticket for our trucks if you are allowed slicks. They might go on factory rims even. I would try one on a OEM alum which are very light, strong, and have the right backspace.

That tire is a "W"...16.8" section width, they measure it on a 15" wide wheel...Not sure why they would use a 15" wheel with only 11.3" tread width...Misprint maybe???

I think you guys missed my point, I'm not suggesting smaller (as in less braking power), but smaller diameter. This will allow 15" wheels & an almost unlimited tire selection. Drag race style brakes will not be an option unless you can remove a few thousand pounds of weight first.

The factory rotors are junk & there is no doubt they are blue & cracked. GM did not put a lot of extra metal thickness there. Now rotor changes are almost as common as brake changes.

Pat, a chute would look pretty cool on your truck....

Look at some of the brake setups that are used in Nascar road race applications. They must fit inside 15" wheels, & get abused beyond belief.

The earlier style 3/4 ton trucks also had brakes that fit in 15" wheels as well.

Remember, thinking outside the box is what promotes advancement, eventually sets records & improves the sport as a whole.

Thanks alot for the info. What tires were you using when you went 10.65 in the 1/4? Pat what is the name of the slicks or drag radials you talk about in post #8 about meeting weight requirement? Thanks just trying to set up the truck as safe as possible any info helps.

The tires in post 1 are tires the fit on stock rims. I went 10.8 in TX with those tires.

He went 10.65 and I went 10.59 with the "My Little Pony tires"

10x16" RealWheel with 30x14x16 DOT M&H Cheater Slick.

Thanks Kat. Sounds like I'm in luck I bought a bunch of old stock chevy alloy 16" rims. I have been eyeing those "little pony exspress" M&H's for awhile. Even though the front end is over weight with those do you still feel totally in control and safe?

I have never felt out control or unsafe in Casper. If Pat thought, I was in any danger, trust me he wouldn't let me in the drivers seat :cool2:

OK, I need some help locating a drag radial or cheater slick for a 17" or 18" rim that will be a decent size for our trucks. Im doing the McGaughys 2" lowering spindle and forgot about the 17" clearance for wheels needed, and thats not gonna work with stock PYOs! Bigger diameter the better as I plan on brake upgrade.... I know they start getting real $$$ though.

So Pat do you think we could get a truck like mine to say to hook just in 2wd on a nice slick or dot drag radial and mybe lose some of the rear spring and add caltrac bars, How much power you you think we lose by running 4wd.

Thanks
Henry
