Anyone running the MH 275/55 16s with tubes?

Was thinking of running some to help increase the sidewall strength slightly.

I haven't heard of any failures? I would run tubes in the cheater slicks and slicks.

Well looking at the specs of the tires, they are only rated at 14xx lbs each...

But I agree, never heard of any failures. But I'd hate to be the one.

Not too concerned with the back tires, Front makes me nervous though.

I ran 2 different sets of those tires varying from 40psi to 25psi I never had an issue. It's your truck, your safety and your wallet lol. Do what you think is best.

Yeah i'd hate to waste the money on them, as they aren't exactly like a bicycle tube lol. Pretty pricey little guys.

I think it will be fine, truck is only 6000 lbs and losing weight everyday.

basically an extra layer of rubber. Not a huge increase, but an increase none the less.

hmm, i dont think you would see anything but there again ive never tried it :D. i dont think you would have an issue with tubes in the tires as long as the tube can take the speed and flex/wrinkling of the sidewalls. id hate for the tube to wrinkle up in the tire, tear a hole in its self and cause you to go right for a wall

If you do you will need to drill a hole in the rim ti accommodate the larger stem that comes with the race tube

I run tubes on my slicks but never did on the drag radials

^ What Simon Said. Race tubes have HUGE valve stems.

I personally WOULD NOT run tubes. I have spun DR's on the rim before. If that happens with a tube, you will tear the tube.

Rubber by itself supports almost no weight. Adding a tube might make the sidewall "stiffer" but it won't make it much stronger.

For the short distances we run, I have no problem running 255 DR's on any of our trucks. Never a problem. I'm reluctant to run them on the street though, after I blew one up on Blue.

I drove 20 miles in the pouring rain in Casper in Colo on the 255's.

alright thanks guys.

I had no intention to run them on the street at all. I still have my set of 20s, and will prob retain them and swap em out at the strip, due to the ground clearance and the trailer I'll be using until I can get a nice tilt GN.

Take your truck to the scales and see what the front weight is. Your front is heavier then the 2,800 lbs rating for both the M&H dot streets. I sold mine they scared me to much as much weight that was on them then to think the load you will add when your on the brakes hard.

see thats what I was going at, but we both know mine is substantially lighter than yours.

At least now it is, not sure what yours weighed then.

Total weight for mine now should be around 5700-5800. Have the CAT scale down the road, once I finish everything up. It will be on be getting weighed up.

This was with the back seat out and tailgate off and tow hooks. But I was still running my Gunner 8's with 285/75/16 that weighed in at around 95lbs ea rim and tire.
