Ok I know I'm bringing this thread back from the dead but are there any high HP guys running a new stock oil pump? I have a brand new one that was already installed but will have it taken off if absolutely necessary.

Thanks!

Nick

The motor I bought from Tony B was running a stock LBZ oil pump and 20-50w CenPeCo oil. When he told me he sent the bearings to Guy to be checked and Guy called him wondering why he sent him new bearings, I was sold. I put another Stock oil pump back into the motor.

Too much oil pressure caused this

When I first built the turbo setup for my wrx I used a t3/t4. I had a huge feed line and that car on a stock block/oil pump etc. would make 35psi idle and 90+psi revved when HOT!

Not a good combo

I had to make a restrictor in the feed line. Then I upgraded to a Holset and had to do it all over again... that was a huge PITA of trial and error... but I didn't want to end up with something like you have in the picture

Different turbos seem to like different amounts of oil, but the point you made here is not something you want to forget and overlook!

Alright this is some good news. So I should be alright running a new stock oil pump? Would I have to shim anything or just leave it the way it is? The turbos used will be a S366 over a S480.

Also, what oil weight do you big HP guys run? I will be running on the street and hit the strip about twice a week.

Does a twin turbo LBZ need special considerations and fab adds to make it get the oil at certain psi and volume from the stock engine? I want to go twins and not trip over a big surprise like this is all. Sorry if it's in stupid question slot but I thought I'd only ask. Take the slams if so that's life.

I would use your stock pump and leave it stock. Plenty of big HP guys run stock pumps with zero issues.

I will be running 15w40 cenpeco.

I would just shim the stocker but use a spare and keep one stock

I wouldn't bother messing around with the high volume pump or orifices in the lines to the turbo always.carnage since I've owned the pump!!!

I use to run 20-50 with it from cenpeco and the oil is great! But holy hell pressure

I've been running Petro Canada 15w40 in mine as that's what we run in all of our equipment. Just wondering if Cenpeco is just a differnt brand name or is there something special about it?

Tony B. uses this in Dirty Hooker? Sudden topic on this brand for helping built engines is a good formula to look for bet the price is upwards on the cost chart but that's what it costs so...
