Door to fender rub??

Anyone had this happen before?? Just started on mine about 3 days ago. When you open the door, it barely grabs the fender...makes a faint pop. Close it, no contact. Looks like the top hinge had a little movement, and lifting up on it make the door not touch the fender....

Does the hinge need replacing?? I can't find a way to adjust it, or even figure out how its mounted. Doesn't look like there is any bolts holding it to the body. Is it welded?

IIRC it is welded and is NON ajustable... Door pin? You could ajust the fender quite easily for now..

Either that or a set of hinge bushings. Could be either top or bottom. From what I remember, they are glued and spot welds on the hinges.

Yes Glue. I want a tube of that....

Kinda figured that was my only option.


This is the hinge. Look like a bolt that goes forward into the fender is part of the hinge... other than that, nothing. The plate on the right side has a little play in it.... looks like it had some kind of glue or something between it and the body.

I would say the pin is just worn out if your door has up and down movement while open, they are just brass if I remember right. And they aren't to bad to change there is a retainer washer and then hold the door up while you pull the pin slide the new one in and you should be good to go. They are very cheap too

IIRC some of the door hinges had brass bushings. From the picture it looks like there is a bushing on the hinge. You may need to pull both hinge pins, and replace both sets of bushing at the same time. Support the door while doing the job.

Are these the parts you're talking about?? The top one moves a little when the door opens... you can kinda see it leaning a little in the pic....
