Yea I'm just glad I didn't sell my spare block. Have to see how soon I can get it torn down. Wife gets home wednesday. So the talk about money begins. I was surprised how well she took the news.

sorry to hear that Justin. I know exactly how you feel. Except its twice as big a kick in the nuts when that happens to you after you put supposed "strong aftermarket rods" in. :D

What was the code? That is what I am curious about... Breaking rods doesnt really throw any codes per se, so thats why the check engine light coming on is odd.

I just heared that a friend of mine who scraps for a living just ended up with a 04 duramax in his scrap yard, I was told he pulled the engine, I will check with him and see what sort of money he is looking for out of it. or if he still has it.

Wasn't a check engine light it was change engine oil that came on. yea I am trying to be in the best mood I can be but as soon as I think of the money part I just wish it never happened. Not sure if I should rebuild a stock motor or put rods in. Maybe I will start a poll.

Sorry to hear of your blown engine, Be interesting to see what happened when you get it torn down. I'm betting a piston skirt hit the counter balance on the crank. The white smoke at idle was probably a bent rod, weird the balance rates stayed good. It is good you have a spare block, I try not to sell your goodies if there is any other way. Good luck.

here is what Chris had to say when he saw it "took a peak at your motor... its amazing. A big part of the block and oil pan is missing. When you look in the hole you can see main caps. The hole seems too low to have been from a rod letting go. Only tearing it apart will tell."

im hoping to get down there this weekend and start tearing it down

That's about where Justin's went. Looking in the wheel well you can see the hole. It blew out the side of the deep skirt on the block and part of the upper oil pan. Looks to be between the 2nd and 3rd main caps on the driver's side. I'll be very interested to see what happened once its torn down.
