As everyone knows on are trucks when u pop the hood right on top of the motor is a black plastic deal to do with air. It sayes duramax diesel on it i beilve its right on the very top of the motor. Or maybe it says 6.6. Whatever my question is if i was to take that off would i notice anything. Like a drop in egts or what would happen. Could someone please fill me in on this

Thanks Kurt

its some kind of resonator. I had mine removed for a while with no results. some say more turbo noise, and slightly faster spooling. I didnt notice a thing so I put it back on.

Some people have removed it and plugged it and their truck ran like crap. Never done it myself. Can't see any advantages to removing it except for more room.

I took mine off my LLY one time and shook about 3 small rocks out and a couple of flies!! I don't know how they got in there unless it was when GM had it off when they replaced my fuel rail. Obviously it held that stuff in there for awhile!!

Remove it... It will put your AMAZING TRUCK into the 11's on a stock motor, Tranny, and still 2wd with 35's...

HAHAHA. Will come on it pulls the two front wheels off the ground already. removing the resonator would put it in the 10s

Mine had that thing. Its apparently a resonator/pressure equalizer for the intake system. Sounds like hog wash to me so off it stayed when I put my cheap intake on. I do have more noise but I think its more from the metal intake piping than the removal of the "thing".

All that said, I think I'm going to put mine back on, makes things appear more stock. :D
