Noob thread of the week.

I found an un-opened pail of Transynd when I was moving recently that has been floating around for about 5 years. As I said it's sealed still so I was wondering if it would still be good? I know the additives can fall out of the oil and collect on the bottom but if I give it a good shake would it still be good to run?
And good to use in my LML?

Blackstone Labs is very adamant that oil never goes bad in a sealed container. I tend to agree, especially if you shake it up first, and it has been stored indoors (no UV light or excessive heat).

I would run it if it were me.

It won't go bad, but how it was stored can have an impact or so I was always told. I can't imagine why really as most cars out there have had the same
Trans fluid since they came off the assembly line and it still does the job haha. Amsoil told me they don't recommend past 3 years, probably an arbitrary number but related to leeching plastic from the container it was stored in. I'd probably sell it and get new stuff, but that's just OCD me. All my spare oils in the toolbox face extremes hot/cold all year. If I haven't used them within a year I'll use them in the truck and replace the spares with new ones.

I think you're ok. Especially sealed container. I think the shelf life is really for the manufacturers of the oil to protect themselves from persecution and blame of a failed component by using their oil. But that's just my ridiculous thought :D

TX of course
I don't even think you need to shake it up. I've never seen stir before use on any oil container. LOL

probably not with the amount of stuff they use to keep additives and what not suspended in the oil but a quick shake wont hurt anything before he pops the top :D

Right on!

Now the other question, is Transynd good to use in a stock LML 6 speed?

Should be alright in a sealed pail in the garage. It may have seen some cold but that's about it. No sun or outside storage.

I'll pop the top and if it looks good I'll give it a go when I do the dummy solenoid mod.
