i have a question for you mike...
I have a dodge 2500 with the 48re, and i heard that you know the big three transmissions pretty well. So the question is, what would cause the transmission not to go into gear (drive and reverse) after sitting for about two weeks or so? I am in the military and my dad is watching the truck for the time being, and i haven't driven the truck since i dropped it off in june. It will be in his care for the duration of my deployment to Afghanistan. He says the only thing to get it to go into gear is to put it in drive, then reverse, and into drive. I have a basic understanding of the automatics, but this problems got me good. I think its the valve body going out, but im not 100% sure.
A little back round on the truck. It doesn't tow any heavy loads of any sort, and the 60000 mile service was just done on it. It included changing out the transmission fluid.
If there is any input from you or anybody else, it would be appreciated.
