Do these cylinders look "normal" to you?

Someone trying to get the pan off without getting all the bolts out is all I can think of. May have been swapped off of another engine that this happened too. Who knows. The story behind the engine history seems a little shady on the part of the seller......

Agreed that the back story is shady, I'm not really pleased

The flange of the pan was bent over the nut (it's a nut there not a bolt) and I had to bend it back to access the nut for removal, the damage was definitely due to an impact of some kind. I'm 90% sure it was dropped

Good I was going to say check both pans as sometimes places that pull motors are none too gentle. Honestly I would go one way or the other. Seal it up and slap it in. I dont see a need to tear it down if you arent going to inspect the rings, rod bearings etc.

I am going to be inspecting the rod bearings, rings and mains.

I pulled one piston already and the top ring shows some obvious wear, no heat marks or scoring but as it is with the rest of this engine it's seen it's good days pass already
The rod bearing off that piston is worn pretty good, I started a thread asking about it a little bit ago-
Thanks for the advise!

That's thing is clean!! Everything looks top notch. From the pictures of coarse. But like everyone said. Send the heads out at least. Get them cleaned and checked over. Should be good to rock!! Have fun with it!!

As for that pan! What the hell??
