Do it or don't? Cp4=scary

15 lml been debating for a month now on whether or not to just nut up and delete it. So so so worried about these cp4's though everybody is telling me they don't fail like everyone says they do. Then I get to reading and see people have seen them fail... I'm looking at korys tunes with 5 inch flo pro. No egr delete just unplug and tune and no lift pump but will only be running tow tune. I came from cummins because I was sick of transmissions in that world. I have 48,000 miles on it At the moment. Just really wanting to open it up and gain mileage along with no more DEF.

Well don't let anyone tell you your gonna gain milage.... might but wont be over 1 mpg. When you decide to do it just do the cp3 conversion same time. Looks like you put on bout 40 to 50k per year so basically only got one year of warranty left

I've seen consistent 2-4 mpg gains when deleting LMLs....... 2-3 being the norm.

X2 I saw a hand calculated 2mpg increase intown and it runs way better. I would delete it and do a cp3 conversion and drive the piss out of it!

Kinda can't afford to do a cp3 swap at this time I'm really just wanting to think this cp4 will make it cause there has been trucks go 300k on stock cp4's

I don't think there isnt much hwy mpg to be gained on tuned trucks. I've seen the most gains in city driving and the less so towing.

Suppose depends on you driving habits. If you run the max effort tune an do ANY romping on it there will be very little difference unless your truck is not healthy now. Then maybe..... I work my truck every day been deleted since New now have 118000 it is a 14 lml my average is 15 if 3 mpg gain was reality that would put me at 12 mpg... thats not reality

you will be fine. CP3's fail too so dont think putting a new cp3 is the end all to any issues. the new CP4's seem to last just as long as the cp3's from what ive seen. but in either case (cp3 or cp4), there are failures that do happen

so if you deleted it as soon as you bought it new, how can you say there is no difference?

Excuse me, it had 5,500 miles on it..... yea should have been more clear on that. Not saying doesn't make a dif but don't delete for sake of economy..... at least for me thats how its been.

My 11 got 12 mpg in town before being deleted.

Isn't the failure much worse on the rest of the fuel system though w/ a cp4? Ultimately more expensive as it seems you end up replacing pretty much everything?

Tuning for fuel economy is always the wrong reason to tune. Most of the time you will be disappointed from expectations that don't occur.

I pull a 16k fifth wheel also I guess I should have mentioned I wanted more power there too.. I like the truck but it's so dogish and "laggy" if you will... All I want is tow tune and in the future a fass lift pump for it.

Thats my biggest gripe with the LML's. There is no pedal, as i call it. Just seems you need twice the throttle applied to get same effort out of the engine as older models. Especially right off idle and low boost conditions. This is on bone stock trucks of course.

Did mine at 5k. Was getting 7.7 in town, now 12.5 to 14.6 in town. Add a lift pump and roll with it, Bosch fixed the metering valve coating issues on the cp4.3 in 2014...
