Trying to get a motor and tranny package together for over the winter and I have a couple questions.
1. Will stock LB7 pistons work in a lbz/lmm? Is there a considerable advantage for using aftermarket pistons cut and coated compared to buying a used set of pistons and having them cut and coated? Do the aftermarket ones help with the heat within the motor? I heard stock LB7 will hold up to 800-850hp
2. Im shooting for 650-700 rwhp should the rods or pistons be replaced at the same time or does one take priority over the other.
*Mind you the hp level will not be a DD level. I plan on having an EFI 5 position switch and that will be the "hot" tune. 450-500 will be the dd tune.
truck is a weekend truck. no pulls, drags, dd, or trailer puller.
