Ok, I just resealed my axle. 11.5" and today I checked the hub temps. After about 15 min at 65 my left hub was 115ish and my right was 140ish. Is this normal or could the right be too tight? I adjusted them like a shop and all the videos say. Had decent drag, no lateral movement, idk it's starting to worry me.

Hmmm. That’s odd. Shouldn’t be able to feel any play.

Double check if the brakes are not sticking. That can affect the hub temperature. I've had a sticking caliper made my hub smoking hot and the rim was 275 degrees.

Bearings will run just fine at those temps. See what it is after putting a few miles on it (of course making sure your brakes check out)

The bearing and hub tolerance may have contributed to the difference in tightness. I wouldn't worry unless it was pushing past 200-250* or so and didn't get any better after breaking it in

Thanks guys. I'm the type of tech that works with specs. And I couldn't find any specs on doing this except torque, loosen, hand tight. I need measurements to be certain it's right.lol tomorrow I'm going to get caliper temps, hub temps, and put it on the rack and inspect.

your rear diff is going to see 240-250* temps when pulling heavy and under heavy throttle up hills in hot temps. i wouldnt even be concerning myself with 25* temp diff between the two hubs....

Double check the fluid level in the diff. Might even try jacking up one side at a time to ensure that fluid had made it to the hub.

When I did the seals in mine, they were only lasting about 30k miles. last time, I replaced the bearings, and jacked back side up to ensure oil was in the hubs. I thin I might have even put oil the the hub before stabbing the axle to help ensure that oil made it to the seal to keep it from chewing itself up.
