Differences between 4294 and 4202 and 4202R?

We did some testing in a sled pull application and found it to be lazy on the bottom end and had a hard time keeping up on it at the other end of the track. (sled Pull Application)
This was with a few different housings and housing needed created some drive pressure we do not like to see. I believe they have made some adjustments since the version we where trying last season. As for BB vs. JB we use as much as we can per applications a BB over a JB. All of our new turbos that we tested last season ended up being BB. We have seen a BB be more forgiving then a JB in over spun applications. The 2.8 and the 3.0 chargers have almost instant spool up and are based off a GT42R cartridge.

Man I hope this isn't the case. The turbine did look pretty small when I had the housing off. I wonder what one of the new Bullseye S475r's with their race cover and 87mm turbine would work like?

im very happy with my S472 B/W. They make good stuff and its cheap. Or maybe the others are overpriced. Either way very good stuff, very customizeable and easy to rebuild.

Mine is setup with the 83mm turbine wheel (74mm exducer) and a 1.00 A/R housing. I havent had time to see the D/P but EGTs are low. It spools up at 2100RPM and with my pretty much stock CP3, 3500pw, which will hold 21,000psi of rail pressure, i cant get it to smoke at all once it lights. Im very happy with this charger so far.

I used PPEs install kit but like evrybody else I had to grind a lot off it to make it clear the intake runner on the pass side.

Just went out and measured the turbine on the T-netics. The wheel is 82mm inducer and 76mm exducer with a 1.01 T4 housing. Pretty much the same as a gt4202r.

Thanks Dustin, John:hug:

Well my S472 is 88mm inducer on the turbine and 1.32 A/R, so from what i can gather by your guys posts, it should do well with an 80mm wheel? Prolly ETT too. (Compound twinset w/ IHI)

I eyeballed it this morning, might not be enough material to maching out for anything bigger than an 80 wheel.

Your S400 should be able to run the 80mm wheel just fine. What I am worried about in that twin setup is the IHI. The turbine even with the gate is not going to like the airflow needed to drive the S400. It will really bottle neck things IMHO. I would much rather see you use a S300 instead of the IHI. Somthing like and SS HTT S300 with the 64mm comp wheel should work great.

^^^x2. Most of the airwerks turbos you will buy for aftermarket have ETT wheels.

And S300/S400 twin setup will be awesome and still reasonable in price.

Ya, kinda afraid the IHI might be a hinderance. I Know it will work as is but ive been keepin my eyes peeled for an S300 though:hug: Thats the route id really rather go. It is my first twinset and way more than this motor will need but i like to build with the future in mind if at all possible;) It would be sweet if i get me an S300..... no more valley turbo! Will be a challenge to fit it all, but ill be able to make a nice sheetmetel intake with the valley clean and ditch the poor designed stock crap! Im an ambitious person:D Wait till you guys see the bodywork done;)

Side note: the 71.5mm wheel my turbo has now, visually, by comparison of ones ive seen, sure looks like an ETT wheel already, but not positive. Its from a JD genset, has a nicer cover than a plain S400 though, 1/2 way like a race cover! Still has the void for the anti-surge bleed-off.

What is it.

You can see the lines in the picture. The exducer tip extends past the backing plate. In the non ETT wheel The tip is even with the backing plate. What does this do? It improves spool up. ETT has been claimed to do all sorts of magical things. Is just a simple mod to the wheel to reduce mass where it has the most effect on spool up. I does not add horsepower or boost. It is just a spool up mod and a good one.

Ah ok!
ill hafta take my compressor housing off to see then. Lookin now i doubt it is. I thought ETT was the distance the leading blade edges extend into the inlet ;)
Makes perfect sense on trimming the exducer back, droping the rotational mass where its most effected.

Thanks for the lesson fellas  learnin new stuff everyday;)
