I have a couple LB7 tunes and should be both from the new body style 2003, they have both the 9044 OS. My question is did they just update to newer segments or are the engines different? For example both are 9044 OS but the one tune I have has different eng cal, eng diag, system.

One might be a federal truck (no EGR, no CAT) and one might be CA/fleet emissions (does have that crap).
GM used a few operating system's(03-04 all used the 9044), but the segments is what makes each tune unique. ALWAYS use the trucks base file for 03-05 trucks(it's reccomended to do it for any truck though) unless you want all kinds of issues to occur.
Don't forget to rescale the voltage table as well. And be certain you don't get a dual tank os. If you do, it will read empty no matter what because it wont see the 2nd sender.
