So Cal.
Yes he is correct, almost all stock turbo's. Alot of drugs were used back then (nitrous, propane) MRmagu was runnning both if I remeber correctly. Soon after he was one of the first to kill a dmax (rod through the block);)

This has the potential to be a good read.

I remember the "bastard stack", and the VanAaken boxes, I even remember TST having a box out.

I remember the days of "those aluminum heads won't hold" and "the duramax is just a converted gas motor"

I'm thinking about Kennedy trying to maintain boost over 2500RPM on a 6.5 and then Bigley's incredible 300 hp project truck. But I guess this is a dmax thread... ;)

I LOVED my VanAaken Stoopid box on the 250++ setting!! I know it's do-able with EFI Live but I've not had an EFI Live tune yet that had the rolling tire burnout like that Stoopid box did! If it didn't have the rev limiter in it that caused the alli to tie up shifts, I might even still have it. I definitely had more fun in my truck back then than I ever do these days. It was a solid 475rwhp setup & just ran stout.

I'm pretty sure I know a guy that still runs the bastard stack. If he doesn't now, he's only recently switched it. I also know one of, if not the first guy to run the triple stack. He dynoed 500rwhp in early 2004 with his 2003 reg cab long bed zf6 truck!! He was one of the first to break 500 with a stock truck other than BSM.

Definitely good ol days!

The old bastard stack - Edge and Quadzilla :thumb:

Don't leave out the duramaximizer!!! Wasn't it included in the bastard stack? I know my cousin and I ran this for a year pulling...Woow talk about timing rattle...Back in 02 and 03 the only turbo to run was stock and NOS unless you were kyle micheal's then you ran a stock pedistal cut and hacked with a 3 inch body lift to clear your turbo of choice side ways :thumb: http://crankitupdiesel.com/04videos.htm

How about when dual CP3s came out? How many people lost engines back then by just throwing lots of fuel?
Remember when the A5K was the biggest, baddest turbo out there?

The "Bastard stack" -- oh god. Hot Edge/Quad Hot Edge/Predator

I stacked a bully dog power pup on 50hp with a edge juice turned up all the way. Unplug the waste gate. Had the fpr on a switch. Plug off fprv . Filter right on the turbo intake horn.straight pipe. It ran hard and was fast.

I beta tested the Predator for the '04 CA (smog...) trucks...Damn near rearended a couple of cars when that thing surged at 1800 rpms in 2nd gear:eek:
I have an old Quadzilla that I loan out for trouble shooting.
I still run a Kennedy 230 Van Aacken stacked with the predator..., (Don't tell MikeL)

Boy I miss the good old days, back when 30 trucks would come to a race at Fontana, and when Casper was still active. Back in mid 06' we tested the GT40R for the first time on a duramax, and soon after put a dual fueler on. In early 07', the truck went 618 to the wheels on fuel only, which was actually impressive back then, but not so much now  Also, ran the duramaximizer and xcelerator as early as early 04
