She found a 2015 with around 59k miles for $11,500. But the kicker is it is a “buy back” or “lemon” on the title for the dpf/cat is what the dealer said it was for. I had plans of making all that fall off, should we turn our noses and not look at it or not be scared of it? Thought about offering $10k but then the buy back is always on the title.

Not sure I’d ever buy a lemon car regardless of the price. 1 because it was so bad the car had to be returned so never know what may come up. 2 because as you said it’s on the title. Resale value is poop.

The dealership that has the car said something about it having a branded title, toonthe vin to my local dealership and ran it, gm shows it doesn’t have a branded title. All records just show emissions work, of nox sensors, def heaters, def tank, then a new cat on it right before it got “bought back” by gm.

I see. There are ways around a branded title. I looked at a truck recently that had a clean title while the car fax showed it had been totaled before. Just be sure to triple check everything.

It also depends on how long you plan on keeping it. If you regularly turn over vehicles every so many years then go elsewhere. If you want to keep it until the wheels fall off then get it.

Branded titles don't scare me because I don't purchase with the intention of selling it later. Lemons on the other hand I would scrutinize heavily. Get them to print a history report and or get one from here. Look over it thoroughly and make sure it has a warranty before signing. Then before making any modifications, drive it for a while, maybe a year to make sure it is all taken care of
