change the fuel filter. tune the programer down. If you want power get EFI, it is safer for the truck. If it pops the code with the programer turned down and a new filter shim the FPRV

With carful attention this is an easy job, and worth the peace of mind, to me anyways, but, to each their own:hug:
I didnt damage mine, I never installed one and 205,000 miles later and lots of mods later I still dont need one. People have damaged the fuel rail doing this mod so I always recomend that you make sure you need the shim before you attempt the install. Most turn out fine but occasionally more harm than good is done.
I thought i remembered you telling me a while back about one you had personal experience with that was damaged when installing the shim kit and splitting the FPRV open??? Thought it was yours...
