my g80 blew up and my gears were still good. I went with the dodge aam setup and I love it. dry pavement launches it will posi every time. would do donuts all day or get sideways from a stop no problem. its when your already moving and take a really hard turn and nail it, it puts a lot of weight on the outside tire and it will only spin the inside one. and in the rain it tends to "open up" quite a bit.

like I said I love it, it looks very strong and simple compared to the g80. its had a handful of 4x4 launches and a few 4th gear dumps in 2wd and its holding all of that so far. for on road use and track use its just great. best price I got on it was from drivetrain America out of iowa. paid $762 with new Timken bearings also from drivetrain America.

You'll like it, no problems with mine yet. I put a PPE cover on later and for some reason there was a place worn on my stock cover.

ill have to check mine lol. I adjusted my backlash back to spec so I was gonna change my fluid soon incase its wearing back in. get all that metal out of there

my tru trac always spins both rear tires. and I have never heard a sound outta it except when I flexed my jeep and had a tire off the ground and it didn't want to spin the tire with traction but if you hit the brakes and load it, it will always spin them both and nothing to wear out either.

Are larger diff covers really necessary? I'm sure the baffles and fins do help dissipate heat.... I can't believe the price of PPE covers.....
I've heard that lockers & LSD other than G80 may generate significantly more heat possibly leading to burnt fluid; therefore requiring greater volume of oil.

What oil do you typically run? I plan on running 75w/90 synthetic and changing after first 500 miles. Avg. temp this time of year is 70-80 degrees.

you will be juuuuust fine without the added capacity. towing will generate way more heat than the locker/limited slip will.

Sorry for the dumb question, but what years of the dodge reared interchange and what's involved in swapping in the center section. I take it the axles are the same. Thanks

03 and up im pretty sure if there still using it I don't know. axles and bearings are the same. its all the same rearend just in different trucks with different traction aid options. gm has a part number for the dodge factory posi unit. but its the same exact part. I guess it was an option in a gm? mine says dodge/gm aam helical posi lock right on the receipt.
