Anyone know Specs on getting my Pistons delipped? Wanting to just stick with lb7 Pistons in my build and can't really find much on how much and what to get cut on them. Already decided I'm not getting them coated, just cut. Also wanting to use Manley rods. Are they the same size as stock lb7 rods? Concerned about compression. Thanks for any input!

Well, all rods for a stock stroke duramax should be the same length. As far as cutting pistons, .010" off the top, open bowl to 2.5", and an 1/8 radius after the bowl is opened up.

This is info I've read here, and from memory. Might need a second opinion.

Yes ,what he said!! :thumb: except you dont have to cut .010 off the top if you dont want to. it reduces the compression a little more if done.
Are you running twins?
I used a .1875 radius cutter on the radius cut. then smooth out good with some scotch brite...

I want to say I got charged $60 per piston but I've had way too many beers since my build :spit:

Where did you get yours done? My local machine shop can't do it

Bill, do you mind saying how much $$$ you have into your built longblock? I assume you did the machine work for the screw-in cups yourself? If not, who?!

I did not machine out the screw in cups. i bought them through another member on DD. He produces or has them made up. Anyone with a nice CNC lathe can reverse engineer and produce them.

Heads with Dual springs, CM retainers, +1MM over Valves,Screw in cups and CNC port and valve job. parts 1815 labor 1575 total 3390..

Short block.
ARP head, main, rocker bolts, flexplate, torque converter fasteners.
NPR rings, Clevite Bearings, Mahle gasket set, trend pushrods
Manley rods, ATI damper, bullet racing cam, BD flex plate
Align hone mains, hone cylinders, clean block with cam bearing install,
deck block and balance.

Parts around 4570 machine shop 900 to 1000

the Pistons, oil pump, crank keyway and welded WP all done myself.
saved a couple dollars there..
