Ok guys I need your help or thoughts on this. I've found a 2015 lml with 18k miles. Wehrli kit egr and def deleted. It's tuned and has exhaust. Fass pump. No cp3 conversion. Would it be a smart purchase since the warranty is void? I know a cp3 conversion would be done if I bought it but other than that what problems could I have? I'm not familiar with these lml's at all so any input would be much appreciated.

Depends on the money.. not really any other big issues other than def and cp4

If it's a good deal then why not. If you're not able to fix it yourself or would rather have the warranty then don't get it.

Well I've done some searching and most problems I find are just cp4 issues. I honestly just wanted to hear what others thought about voiding the warranty on a new truck. I'm sure it would run a hell of a lot better being deleted.

Most of the trucks I delete are brand new off the lot. Most guys know the really issues with them are emissions related. Once removed they are solid trucks. Of course you have the cp4 issues but up here they aren't all that common.

Being a 2015 I am pretty sure it has the Cp4.2 if I am not mistaken? Correct me if I am wrong but they are a lot less prone to problems as opposed to the originals released in 11s. From what I have researched if you are just looking for reliability than throw a fass on it and be good to go!

It depends on the build date, the updated CP4 came out late in the 2015 model run.

My build date is 01/13/15, mine has the early CP4.

I would suggest a cp3 conversion and a sump. It gives you the peace of mind and would be less then all the deletes that are already done.

I think you could skip the sump honestly unless you just wanted it. Cp3 swap is a good idea, no cons to it other than cost.

Lml is a good truck. Cp4.2 is still a variable even with the update. Uncommon failure but prevalent enough to spend money to avoid it happening. Deleted and with a cp4, that's one solid truck. Beef up the front end and you're pretty much good to go.

Didn't even think about that. My being a "15.5" based on build date has it and I was just thinking all 15s in the back of my mind. Thanks!

So I called Danville today and asked for a quote on a conversion kit and sportsman pump with labor. Guy said well why would u want to convert it. So I told him I had heard there are issues with the cp4. He told me that cp3 failures are just as common and he didn't recommend doing the conversion and would not give me a quote. Really surprised the hell out of me. I just hate to spend the money on a new truck and boom the cp4 grenade and then I'm out 10k just to replace it because it's not under warranty. There's a lot of good knowledge on here so I wanted to get everyone's opinion so I make a good decision.

Looks from your sig like you've got enough experience modding trucks, so do it yourself.

I'm sure I could do it myself. I don't know crap about the lml though. Wehrli told me they charge 5 hours labor for install so being covered up at work this spring I may just opt for them to do it

Don't worry about the cp4.2. Buy it if you want a deleted truck or go buy a stock one of you don't. I will tell you that my 15 starting using a good amount of oil before I traded it and I've heard of other deleted trucks doing the same. I'm not sure if it's related or the extended mileage between oil changes was the cause, but mine was throwing on the low oil light right at 6k miles into an oil change. Took about 2 quarts to get it back to proper level...

When I did my cp3 I also did an egr, dpf, def delete and a few other things and the whole time both my brother and I kept saying "wtf is this crap" when we were removing "random" emissions components. It wasn't too difficult and since the egr is already removed it cuts the time in half. 5 hours to do it is pretty reasonable for a shop to charge tho.

Did you trade it in for the exact reason? This is the 1st I have heard of this issue...

I had GM do an oil consumption test, it was at the very high end but was considered ok. I traded for a couple of reasons but this was one of them. I have heard of it being whispered among other deleted LML owners, I have even seen "Frogman" post on here about his low oil light going off. My dealer basically told me to change my oil every 4K and not worry about it...

I have been watching my 16's consumption and it uses zero oil and it already has 11k on it...

The CP4 isn't anywhere even close to being as reliable as a CP3 pump.

That's basically like saying a 6.0 power stroke is a reliable engine.....

The cp3 can still fail obviously, but they don't grenade like the cp4. The ones that do the swap argue it's easier to change the pump than potentially the whole fuel system with a cp4 grenade.

If it were me I'd swap it cuz I wouldn't be relaxed otherwise. I figured with the cost of the swap I'd be better off with an LMM and it was the right choice for me. I wouldn't have been able to get an lml as far into the build as I have the LMM due to the cost of the swap
