Would anyone like to share their opinion on Moog Problem Solver parts v. AC Delco Professional? I just replaced my steering gear and pitman arm and used ACD pro. I took it in for a front wheel alignment and they said I need upper and lower ball joints replaced first or the alignment is pointless. I told them I'd do it myself (I thought they looked suspect when I was dealing with the gear/pitman). I've never replaced ball joints before... so hoping it's not terribly difficult.

For the uppers, you're probably better off replacing the uca's. They are known to get loose where the ball joint presses into them, and require replacement to fix. Price em out, but it used to be only a couple dollars for new ones vs ball joints and bushings for them.

Do not get ac delco uca's. Ball joints are weird. At full drop out The stud will contact the side of the ball joint housing and cut the boot. The uca will not even hit the frame stop. I replaced mine with moog problem solver uca's.

i just took off a set of moog UCA's with ball joints, swapped in some cognito uca's, they were on for 29k miles, with 33' tires, t bars cranked, so they were at a steep angle, boots were still good, as were the ball joints. the lowers were moog also, and still good, i only replaced because they are fairly cheap and easy to do when its apart.

IIRC i got my Moog uca's and lower ball joints from amazon, i think 75$ for the uca's and 35$ for lowers
