If it sits for a week or so there is a delay before moving in reverse or forward. once it gets going runs and shifts fine. think it could be the seals around the pump shaft? If is, what kind of job would it be to replace them.

What year is the truck?

Early 5 speeds had a converter drain back valve issue IIRC. Pretty sure the trans has to be pulled to fix it.

The plastic sealing rings are defective from the factory. There could also be ware grooves in the front drum.

Yup. Not worth pulling imho if the Trans works fine otherwise. Just let it idle a little longer at first start up and take it easy on the throttle till she starts moving like it should. I've been told it won't hurt a thing (had this issue before)

Both of mine does the same thing. Just put it N for a few seconds and away it goes. Use to run a self propel sprayer with a Allison 3 speed with overdrive in it and it would do the same thing put it in N for a few seconds and away it goes. I just figured it was nature of the beast
