DEF ISSUE/DELETE Advice Needed

I have a 2011 2500HD with 132k miles on it. It's been at the dealer around 7 times or so since I bought it new for DEF issues. The last time it was in around 109k miles, was for the tank heater going bad. They replaced the whole system and included it under warranty still due to how many issues the 2011's have had. Just the other day I noticed dried DEF residue on the tank below the passenger door and when I took a closer look with a buddy yesterday, we think it has to be a leak of some sort in the system though I've gotten no indications of a leak while driving. Has anyone experienced anything like this on their truck? I'm thinking it's finally time to delete it but hate spending the money to do so right now. Thanks in advance for the advice...

Pics to follow of the leak area.

Hard to say without pics, but are you sure it's not just dried DEF from the dealer spilling some when filling? Also my tank has been gone for a while but I believe there is an overflow around the filler neck with a hose that drains by the framerail at about the firewall, could be from that too. How many miles are you getting per fill? It doesn't sound like anything to worry about.

Wash it up good, then keep an eye on it to see if it reoccurs. I agree it could be residual mess from the work the dealership did.

There are the pics guys. I just feel like I would have noticed it sooner if it had been the dealer. That was last April. I've filled it plenty since then and usually don't spill that much.

If its leaking it should throw a code. It's a pressurized system. Only point would be the fill neck and maybe the feed line to the def injector itself. (Maybe one of the o rings where the pump bolts on the top but I think it would throw a code imo)

yeah it definitely hasn't thrown a code. I guess I'm thinking of washing the area and keeping an eye on it. I just can't figure out how there's that much residue without there being a leak. The dealer only filled it once a yr ago and I never spill that much when I fill it.

Check where the filler neck goes to the tank. Mine did the same dealer didn't get it on all the way kind of a pain to get in there. It's the one that goes to the reservoir to the tank.

That makes sense. Were you able to get that fixed without having to drop the tank?

You can get the neck properly seated without dropping the tank, if you have a hose clamp pliers it will be a piece of cake if that's what it is.

Holy cow, that's way more than I expected! The filler neck is at the front of the tank, that looks like it's leaking around the center where the pump is mounted, I would drop the tank and see wtf is going on, dropping the tank is easy.

This exactly.. or take it back to the dealer and ask them to fix their screw up.. it's obviously been leaking a while

Yeah it's a ton of fluid that has somehow leaked. I got under it after work and scraped off what I could but I can still see a ton on top. Unfortunately the dealer won't touch it under warranty bc they only warranty work for 12 months or 12000 miles. I had just over 13000 since the visit even though it was just under a year since the work was done.

Do you have to disconnect anything to drop the tank or just remove the hangers and lower it?

Well I just went outside with a light and located the filler hose. As it's been said it's at the front of the tank with no residue around it. Whatever is leaking is coming off the top of the tank.

Now the question is do I do one all-around tune or get the switch allowing 3 separate tunes. I don't want to overdo it.
