Putting a set of dsp5 tunes on a customers truck, 100% stock 02 LB7. I put the dsp5 in the ecm, and disconnected the batteries as I always do before i touch anything. I get everything done and try to read the stock file off and every time i get code $0101 saying the ECM has no data or connection. Granted, the truck still starts and runs.

Any ideas? Bricked ecm? Ive pulled fuzes to the radio and such, still no luck. The V2 is up to date also. never had this happen before and need the truck back on the road
Any help is appreciated.

The ECM isn't bricked it it still starts and runs. If you connect the V2 to just the truck and not the laptop does it light up? Did the cigarette fuse blow?

Try using v7.5 not V8... It's a communication issue. Seems most common with lb7's and lly s.

Tried pulling stock file off with v7.5 and get the same message $0101. It literally takes less than 10 seconds into the process and it gives that code. Truck still runs and does everything normal.
I've also checked the boxes for Alt keys, etc. Still nothing

Wonder if it's had a tuner of some sort, then flashed back to stock with gm?

I've heard that will cause an lb7 ecm to be "locked" and won't read..

Just called the customer and he says he purchased the truck 3 weeks ago and took the PPE standard hand held programmer off and back to stock tuning. Shouldn't have any affect would it ? It almost acts like it's a locked ecm if you tried to flash a previously locked truck per-say.

Try to just read diagnostics with the stock truck, might be the wire in the obd plug. Had it happen many times. They are finicky at best. They use the cig fuse for communication. My 2cents.

Same thing happened years ago on my truck. Had Tony stumped, too. We never did figure out what the problem was. Just had to put another ECM in it and no more problems. I still have that old ECM somewhere.
