Might be the drive shaft. As I mentioned before 38 to 42 mph comes and goes. I replaced the ujoint no more noise

Driveshaft is all tight and U-Joints look good!

I went under the engine bay and checked the turbo heat shield again. I at one time had unbolted it, trying to remove it in one piece for when I get around to doing my downpipe. Well, I found out right away that it wasn't going to come out in one piece, and I didn't have my tin snips with me to cut it out. So, I checked and made sure the heat shield wasn't touching anywhere, which could cause noise. I bent all the pieces out slightly.

Went and drove it and it actually seemed like the noise was 98% gone, which I was good with. Welp, last night my wife and I go to run errands and its back, full fledge again. I think as soon as I get time I'm going to go ahead and cut that damn heat shield completely out and throw it in the scrap, just to eliminate that being the culprit. I'm so over it!!!!!

Well then, remove the dash panel, while you have it removed lightly stuff some acoustical foam in the voids or stick some ensolite on the back side of the dash panel or both while looking for the rattle.

Here is a link for the dash removal.

When I did my downpipe I used a body saw to cut my heat shield in half and reinstalled it, I'm sure it's their for a reason. Like when the turbo starts glowing after a long tow or driving, couldn't imagine why GM installed them in the first place....:whisle:

I'm curious if you cut it in half how it was reinstalled without rattling/vibrating like crazy? And I honestly don't see how the heat shield would serve much purpose being made out of really thin aluminum type stuff. Who knows though, maybe I'll get it, maybe I won't. But the way things are going, it's more than likely going to be tossed when it finally comes out.

Still fighting this, and noticed the other day it seems to be ALOT worse when its bitter cold outside. The temps got up in the 70's the other day and the noise didn't seem to be too bad. I think my next step is to remove the entire top dash panel and look around to see if I can find something that I wasn't finding with just the radio and instrument cluster out. So aggravating!!!!
