Anyone running the 72 vvt on stock bottom end larger sticks and cp3 towing 10000 car hauler etc up med grades with Marks tunes? I thought maybe the 72 would be laggy enough to not make power till say the 2300 2400 range on hills to let the bottom end last and aid in cooling? Just a thought, be nice now. LOL

I just had s this same talk with mark on friday and kept telling me that charger was designed to be in a twin or triple setup is where it would shine. I have plenty of fuel for that turbo also. He pushed the 68 on me for street in a single setup.

I wouldn't go over a 68 for DD or towing duty. You need air down low to get a load moving and nobody wants to DD a smoke machine. That turbo would be difficult to keep clean. I'm not saying input can't be done p, it's just easier with the 68 to get the results your after.

Thanks for all your input,I do not tow often ,but when I do I dont want to smoke everyone on the hill, out.Post # 3 on Danvilles 72vvt site the farmer loves it for towing aprox 14000# up 8% grades , but he didnt address smoke.I had Limitless install 1078 aprox 2700 stall converter to address the getting the load moving issue . Iam waiting on a call back from Mark right now ,to see if tuning can control the smoke issue while not letting EGTs get unsafe .Im trying to do things right the first time, for a change.LOL

Just ease into the throttle when leaving a stop. Then manually keep it from shifting to soon. As long as you keep RPMs up it's not going to be smoky.

I towed with a 4094vvt which has the same turbine as the 72vvt with a stock inj lbz and it did just fine. 12k going up a 9% grade was no problem at all, just had to downshift and not lug it and it was a great charger to tow with

Thank you for your personal experiences with the 72,I am going to see if Mark can do two tow tunes ,one being aprox 1000 elevation ,two aprox 5000 ,this may allow for the thin air, like I do in my Cessna,I lean it out .Looking at all the posts of trucks running fixed vane 469s and 369s towing , it makes sense that some of you are happy with the spoolup of a 72 vvt.I am kind of new to diesel pickups I do have dozers ,dump ,tractors and excavator that are diesel, and I am new to diesel sites ,but thanks for your input.
