Well went to the track yesterday. I did alright, just can't get it all to come together on the line to get into the 8's. I ran a fastest of 9.033 with the wife in the truck riding along, and draining the fuel rail the whole way down the track. I clamped my springs, but I'm still cutting 2.01 60 ft times. Is that about right? Doesn't seem to be from what I read, I expected to at least be in the 1.9* range. Oh well, gonna do some tuning, and a PPE race valve this week and try it again fri. night at Qualcom, I believe. I did get the joy out of kicking the living shit out of another Marine with a 3 week old Rustang that thought he was hot shit. Turns out even with the anemic v6 he can't get it off the line :spit: Alright guys will post pictures and time slip later.

Do you have tie rod sleeves or cognito braces? That will help you launch in a straight line. I would do the shims instead of the race valve, although from what I read, they are pretty much the same thing, shimming it still gives it a chance to blow open if you get a way crazy fuel spike. I would give those a try. What are you launching by? Boost/rpm? and what is it?

I have sleeves and braces. I'm still towing in bad, and even with my t-bars dropped, it launches violently. I think it may have something to do with having such big tires, thats a lot of weight and traction. The lower I dropped the tire pressure the more violent it got, but it was getting off the line faster. I launch at 2200 rpm. I'm thinking about strapping my centerlink like the pullers do to see if I can control some of the tow-in. And the race valve is honestly just easier. Yeah its more expensive and extreme, but I know I'll never have to touch it again.

your tires are not good for drag racing... 2.0 60's in a 4x4 truck are very bad. Most guys can get into the 1.7's with ease. You need to kick the little woman out say she's 100lbs that is .05 right there.

You come kick her out:rofl: I ain't fighting that battle. She doesn't like the hobby if she can't ride along and be there with me. Wife doesn't like it, that means its that much harder to spend the money for the fun stuff. I run 1 or 2 runs without her in there every time I go, I just can't seem to get it all to come together when I'm by myself on the line. That 9.033 would have been an 8.** without her, but oh well. I'm racing for fun anyways. As for the tires, well you saw my other post. I'm working on that one right now.

Spare tire, and tail gate. I was gonna do the back seat, but decided not to at the last min. What else is easily removable for weight reduction? Trailer hitch already came off, gooseneck hitch is coming off soon.

IMO, with those huge tires, you're going about things backward. Id try to leave at 1800-2000 rpm. You dont tell exactly what you dropped tire pressure to, but it was probably also too low.

Wheel hop is killer to both times and parts.

oh yeah....NO RIDERS! 100% agreed with paint. Thats 100-120lbs you didnt need in there. Every 200 is a tenth. Tell her tough luck.

I didn't put the huge tires on it. They came on the truck. And as far as tire pressure I ran 36 front, 30 rear for my 9.033 run. I already said I'm working on the big tires thing, money is tight right now. And as far as the rider getting out, it ain't gonna happen. Me and my wife both enjoy this hobby, and if it means disappointing my wife to get where I want, then I guess I'll never run in the 8's.

I wasnt bitching about your tire choice...just telling you I think you need to rethink your launch strategy based on the tires themselves. Lower the rpm. Right now, you're overpowering the suspension and tires and the result is wheel hop...which is costing you a lot more than leaving at a more conservative rpm would. Pressures look decent....if you can launch a bit softer.

Damn...thats twice in this thread I agree with paint. LOL Share driving.

I just realized something from looking at the pic on DP again. Does your truck have "green keys" or a leveling kit installed? I see you state that the bars are down on the stops, but your truck still looks like its at stock height.

I was running at stock ride height with 305/50/20's and only had tie rod sleeves and spring clamps it left without hop. Leaving at 2000rpm I usually got a 1.71 60ft at full weight. There has to be something that's causing your truck to hop. Could your shocks be bad?

So for the larger tires trying launching softer?

I cut 1.90 on 37s. Stock gearing.

Something else is wrong.

Yeah I know. I think part of it is the rail pressure all over the place because my FPRV is opening and closing like its cool. Its loading and unloading the suspension and making me launch horribe.

No, I actually pulled my keys to check them, they are the stock keys, and the bolts aren't even touching them. My truck sits lower in the front than my buddies stock keyed and dropped t-bars cc/lb 05 chevy and I have larger tires.

Yeah I still have stock shocks. Will replacing the fronts with QA1's make a big difference? And what should I go with in the back?

Jordan you make me want to go race my stock truck! Are you still running a tranny that has came really close to being limped once?
