I just had my email account hacked and somehow they changed my password so I couldn't even log on to it! Got it all starighted out as they was able to prove I was the "owner" of the account and sent me a link to change the password. Once that was done and opened the email account it was all in Arabic writing:mad:. Got it staightned back out now and changed my password on everything even though none are the same. So far nothing else has happened!

I don't understand how they don't get caught when its merchandise delivered that's pure BS. When you purchase some things on line or over the phone sometimes they ask the name on the card which can be different then the purchasers. Also with this incident that would work for a airline ticket. Book the flight in the crooks name with my CC. Shit I've given my buddy my AMEX before to book rooms over the phone.
In addition the people taking the info could careless. Last thing on their mind is there is a fraud happening. I'd assume if the charge went through and detected they should be easily caught but like Pat says your at the mercy of the law.

Can't steal cash...I sleep with it under my bed. And when I need to buy something I just give myself a lil budget. It's not convenient in any way but atleast I know where ma money is at.

I have had this happen before too. I also use paypal as much as possible and check online all the time. I have been told that if you have this happen more than once to that same account, you should switch finacial institutions. Also on another note, I was in western Canada this summer and couldn't use my card because Visa has a real-time stop on potentially fraudulent charges. So here I am at a gas station and trying to get money and spend alot of it on roaming charges. What I learned...that my money is easier obtained by criminal than me!! Due to such problems, I have really grown fond of using old fashioned greenbacks!!

Understandable cash is King, well it use to be anyway. Problem is you can't or shouldn't mail cash. Pretty hard to purchase something or reserve something that isn't local without a CC.

Speaking of cash is King is stinkingly ridiculous and nauseates me perhaps some of you do it here ,don't care, that don't carry any cash what so ever on them. How many times have I been behind some one in a drive thru like Dunkin Donuts or in a convenient store buying a $2 dollar cup of coffee and handing the cashier a debit card! WTF?

Not as bad in a DD line but at a convenient store is the worse gotta put there pin in then wait for the fricken dial up modem to go through to finish the transaction for a .99 cent cup of coffee and a newspaper! I want to choke them!

I finally caved in and bought fast food with a Credit Card. :(

For years I told Kat: "Who would want to make 36 monthly payments on a cheeseburger????"

It's like Wimpy from Popeye on steriods - "I'll gladly pay you in 2015 for a hamburger today!"

But I have no debit card (never have), no ATM card, and seldom have cash or checks with me. I live off plastic, so it was eventually going to happen ...

Same thing happened to me recently & i got real lucky because we caught the POS. I filled up my truck @ a BP station around 10 am & when i went to refill again a few hours later my card had been declined,i knew what had happened immediatly & called the police & got things rolling. Turns out the BP station had some sort of card reader installed somehow in the card reader @ the pump & the POS had it rigged to send the info to him remotely & had people running all over town within an hour running the charge card up until declined. So if you guy's are wondering how they get the # monitor your card for a little while after your next fill up & you will find your POS. they (the police)set survailance up @ this BP where it happened to me & guess what! It was the owner of the BP station himself that had the reader installed & had a network of middle easterner's cashing in. Now i always go into the store where i purchase my fuel hand them my card & make sure they run it inside.

Stop making the minimum payment and you'll have that cheeseburger paid off in no time. Hey it's the evolution of time. Although the Jetson's promised me my own personal flying craft that has yet to happen.

I understand the convenience of plastic that and the whole world revolves around credit and debt, just look at our federal government for advice. Not long ago you were worried about getting held up for your cash or pick pocketed now we worry about handheld scanners walking down the street stealing your fake cash! It's a wonderful world aint it!

Lifes a bitch you aren't safe

One thing tho Pat the more you eat at In And Out Burger the slower Casper is gonna go! :D

A remedy to the plastic problem is steal and lead. I will explain. I am getting my carry permit, so I have decided to use cash and carry a small pistol in my back pocket beside my wallet. If I get held up, I will pull out my wallet and the gun at the same time. As I go to "hand them my wallet", I pull the trigger. You want a side of .22 with that cash?

Better hope it is not some crack head high on dope robbing you, that .22 isn't going to do anything to stop him. In the end, you will most likely end up with little pesky holes in your body and the crack head will have your wallet and your .22 pistol. Do yourself a favor and get a real gun! :thumb:

The only problem is that there are not many larger calibers that will fit in ur pocket easily. I know of a .380 I believe, but a .22 while small can make pretty big problems for the human brain. lol
