Has anyone every cut open/ used a tool to open a new set (08 and newer) head lights to paint the inside and remove the yellow reflectors? Ive been told to bake in a oven to loosen up the glue but kinda afraid to screw up a few hundred dollar set oh lights??? anyone????

Affraid to screw them up so you want to cut them open?

haha i baked mine in the oven to get the orange reflector out. it softens up the glue and then you can open them up with a knife. i used some clear silicone stuff to glue them back together. i would think its the same with the new lights. just take your time and glue the crap out of them so they dont leak

i think it was around 180-200. i cant remember exactly tho. check it every 10 minutes. and then i used a butter knife to "cut" and pry the two halves apart. im not sure if the lenses yellow or not tho

I hope you didn't end up putting your headlights in the oven. They used a different sealent on the NBS lights and heat will not soften the sealent. These lights need to be cut apart. There is a good video on youtube of it.
