I'm thinking About buying this turbo. It's an lly turbine housing with a 10 blade turbine wheel from a 6.0 powerstroke. Then the compressor wheel is a 68mmx94mm cast wheel from a 4094avnt and the compressor housing has been machined to fit this wheel. It has new bearings and has been balanced on a west coast turbo balancer. Whatever I end up getting I would like to compound it down the road with something along the lines of a s480

Does this sound like a good turbo?

Is this what the Danville 68 is like?

What kind of power level do u think it would support?

Or would I be better off spending about $500 more for a 4094avnt?

Thank you for your time!

Yeah me too. I would look for a turbo that is proven to work well. It sounds similar to a Danville unit, so it's basically a stock turbo.

I was thinking that myself but wasn't sure if the 10 blade turbine wheel instead of the 13 blade that comes stock would drop the drive pressure and if so how much. Seems just like a Danville 68 unless he modifies the turbine differently?

All vgt are too tight to twin imho. But x2 that 37 housing is tight. 10 blade wheel is helpful but the charger u descibe is stock injector maybe 30 overs max one. It is a great design though especially work stick1500 dollars to 2000 usually

I appreciate all the info and everones opinion. I was debating a s366 vs 4094avnt before I came across this turbo and have been doing a lot of research. Then I talked to Scott at sdp and dug further and was leaning more towards the 4094avnt over the t3 366 as he carries both and builds compounds. then spotted this for $1100 and It sounds very similar to a Danville 68 which has produced impressive numbers.

so I was thinking it would be a hell of a buy for maybe 650hp range and possibly compound it later. But just don't know if the Danville flows more exhaust than this one creating less drive pressure.

Plus with the 4094 I belive it can be modified to a Danville 72 down the road by changing the compressor wheel and housing can't it?

where as with this charger even if it is like the Danville 68 I don't think u can modify it any further correct?

You always can gate a vgt if drive press becomes an issue. Not saying to buy the charger just saying it can be done

Do you have a piping solution everette, i tried just gating one up pipe in a twin setup and it did make a huge difference in drive pressure peak power was about 800rpm higher and the atmosphere charger spoole much harder.

I would prefer to have 2 gates 1 off each upipie, but have not tried it yet.

i know you wastegated your 72 into the s483. If you were to reproduce that kit about how much would it cost.

This way we can get a comparison for the original poster of total cost for his application.

I know just the gate and the piping cost me about 600 dollars and it wasn't too bad to install. I would say well worth the cost in performance as i gained 98 rwhp by adding the gate.

You are correct, the compressor housing can not be machined out any further than 68mm on stock housing so the turbo you described or the danville 68 both are maxed out in that regard,
On the turbine side danville sometimes does use different vanes and a gt40 turbine which is a 4094 exhaust side and that would flow better/ spool slower to some extent. This is a cheetah turbo for work stock and cost is allot more than 4094.
If you are not pulling get the 4094 or do a s366.
Or for the 1100 that turbo you described seems like the right price and you may be real happy with it in total.

there is also the s468 it is very nice but kinda a tight fit.
google s468 airwerks and you will find it quickly

My charger came from Mark with a flange on the bottom of the turbine housing so that it pulls from both sides. 600 sounds about right for the gate and misc pipe fittings doing it yourself.

Your best bet would be the 4094 avnt unless you plan on pulling in a stock appearing class then A fleece cheetah or a Danville charger would be your best options IMO. But if you just want a bad ass drop in charger the 4094avnt is where it's at and then when u want more send it to Danville and have mark work his magic for about a grand he can turn the 68mm to a 72mm and do some other trick stuff to it and even tune it

Yes with a tall pedestal everything is much easier to get to and it just looks and fits better.
