Im just curious if anyone has ever taken out there headliner completely without damage to the foam. Im looking to take mine out to re apply new fabric cuz after a few sunroof leaks it looks like ass.. Im confident i stopped the leak so now id like to address the appearance of it.

So basically im looking for any tips or tricks to get it out. Thanks

A buddy of mine works at a body shop and when I took it there to get the hail damage fixed he told me he took it out. I've heard sometimes the back glass has to be removed but he didn't have to.

I think it was heavy duty velcro in the front. I took it out last summer. Separate the rear seats when taking them out it is a lot easier

Where did your sunroof leak? I just went through this. Pull all the plastic, the grab handles, visor, and around the sunroof the trim piece just pulls out. There's hd Velcro on foam blocks. My foam blocks separated from the headliner rather than the Velcro coming apart. To get it out the door you'll have to gut the truck. I would not recommend pulling it out the door been there done that it broke the foam between the roof console and the windshield. Pull the back window!!! If you want we can exchange numbers and you can text me when you're doing it and I'll walk you through any questions you have. :thumb:

I took mine out but had my back seats out was doing some spring cleaning. So let me see if I can remember.
Items to remove:

Both visors and the things they lock into.
The "oh shit" handles
The clothes hanger hooks
I found it helpful to remove the pillar trim and the handles for getting in the back seat
The map light console cubby hole thing
Dome lights

After all that it's just velcroed in and should come down relatively easy but be careful the wires are kind of glued to the foam for all your lights. Just pull out of the glue maybe use rtv to hold them when you put it back in. Also helps to have the front seats all the way forward and leaned forward. I used the driver side rear door to get it out.

I tried doing mine myself but got aggravated so I called around and found someone that would do it for $50 if I had it out already and put it in myself. I think t was worth it.
