Hmmmm...You've still got a few days to test...Load that stock '01 file and see how it goes...Try the 2nd gear launch, then make any changes...

you guys are making this WAY more complicated! I am simply confused by your posts?

There is enough info allready posted in this thread ,that if you would actually take the time to read that your trans would be shfting perfect
If you want to do it yourself then thats great,However you seem to want all the answers that cant be given? Your TUNE is diifenrent than mine.Me telling you what to do is pointless;)

What is it that your actually trying to do? Have you looked at the logs from the track and said HEY my trucks TCM needs modifacations?

There is no squirls.....And FU for even saying that:mad: We are trying to help you understand.

AFAIC ask Nick;) He is your tuner,he should know!

Well, I guess Im asking questions that would be typical of a tuning class. Im not asking anyone to tune it for me, just give me an outline of where to look so I can do it myself. I understand where to look in the TCM, but dont fully understand how the torque tables in teh ECM interact with it.

Ive read the thread numerous times, and honestly still dont fully understand it. Some of us havent quite grasped this whole EFILive concept, ya know. Just the sheer number of tables and how they interact scare the heck outta me...I dont want to miss something and have a "KA-BOOM" at the track!!!
Why the hell do you think I keep asking what seems the same questions? Why do you think some of us are always going to be tuning CUSTOMERS..cause we're idiots lost in the dark. All Im asking is help understanding the tables....Ill make the changes myself after I understand where to look.

I am still running Nick's tune I ran last year to the 12.40. The trans tune was sent to me after I found my stock TCM tune had extremely harsh shifting, and the new tune did solve almost every issue I had, but it has defuel disabled. Heck if it was as simple as enabling the defuel and the tune would work the same, Id do that in a heartbeat.

As for "asking my tuner"... I have in the past. I did after the no defuel issues came out, asking for help. But I felt i was being ignored after asking the same questions Im asking here and getting the same run-around as I am now. I actually havent gotten much help since the original transaction other than the TCM tune, and thats left a bad impression on me. So I am going to try and do it myself.
Its not like Im looking for anyone to help me for free. I dont think anyone asking questions in this thread is. As stated above, the best combo Ive run is the racetune and transtune I was sent...but then Zero found the trans tune was potentially unsafe due to no defuel requests, so now I have to fix it. Theres an exceptional amount of rancor directed at Nick and people who run his tuning at this site. Ive accepted that, as its part and parcel to all the other exceptionally useful info available here.

Just tell me if I have my "flowchart" correct, and Ill close this thread down so I wont "bother" you guys any more with this.

Does anyone else have trouble with the 2100-2800rpm 50-80%tps shifts. My other shifts seem fine, except for the WOT 3-4, but the mid-high throttle shifts feel very inconsistent and different from the other shifts. They feel longer but they don't feel like they are slipping. The whole shift feels like it starts to slowly shift then it gets faster as it gets to the next gear, but it is nothing that seems harsh just annoying.

Im wondering if this could be caused from a too steep or no enough of a transistion from part throttle defuel to wot defuel in TLIQ (2100-2800rpm area)

My guess is that they maybe left this table out becuase they figured it would be easier for us to tune with TLIQ, base torque, and TBIQ. Im sure they are doing us a favor by leaving some of these tables that we think we might need becuase it might make us more confused?

I will repeat again how it all works.

1) Leave the TCM alone.
2) The key tables are as follows:
TBIQ, Base TQ, TLIQ, Main Pulse W/WO Pilot, Fuel Pressure Base, MAX TQ.
3) ECM uses TBIQ, Fuel pressure Base and TLIQ to determine fueling request/limits providing MAF Fueling limits are not being limited by that table.
4) When the transmission requests a shift it looks up TQ request vs rpm and TLIQ.
5) The shifts result in reduced fueling based on rpm, too much defuel rpms drop quickly and then TQ value drops then fueling drops.
6) There are a few tables that really matter, I had to figure it out and I am not offering any more help, nobody gave me a manual and I have a lot of time invested in learning how it all works.

The rancor directed at Nick you percieve is not rancor at all, I just find it funny that I read about how great he is and how helpful and you are here trying to get help on his tuning ???

Maybe I just don't get it, I am honest with people up front when I do business with them they know from the start what they are getting or not getting with me.

I lose a lot of business to the "Less Expensive Tuners" but I don't have dissatisfied customers with trucks that don't shift right or are left hanging with customer support down the road.

So I guess the motto is true, you get what you pay for in life. Just ask Ben about his rods in his motor or Zero Gravity's transmission.

;)

Tom , is it a part throttle shift you are having problems with or WOT .

WOT My 2-3 shift would either lag or hang up with the stock trans tune. The no defuel tune really helped that issue, though.

go figure...my truck runs fine on something that can wreck everyone else.

I loaded the 01 os tonight and ran around with it. Seems to work ok. Will have to do some fullthrottle tries tomorrow am and see how it goes.

I hear from other people that he is very helpful and takes their calls when they have issues, so I guess its just me. Maybe I misunderstood something somewhere. But it doesnt surprise me that Id rub someone the wrong way....it happens all the time.

Thanks for the list. It'll help me understand what to look for. Thats all I really wanted to know..

man o man. this has all gone down hill. i have a hint for those wondering. tweak one table, test it. tweak another test it. etc etc. guys like tony have done this from the beginning. it sucks and its extremely time consumptive but you will have a direct understand of what THAT table does to YOUR truck. everything else is just speculation.
