To run the stroker kit I would have to change pistons as well from what I understand. I want to reuse all that I can. I was thinking stock was pretty much it but wanted to check.

I think there are some stock stroke aftermarket cranks available from a couple places as well but most, unless pushing some envelope, are using stock cranks.

I haven't pulled the oilpan off yet but I'm sure that is what it is. Should get the pan off tonight or tomorrow morning.

Like above, SoCal should have billet cranks that are drop-in, IIRC. Crank failures are still rare, but they certainly do happen.

There is a possibility that LBZ/LMM's have a stronger crank, since GM often beefs up parts or their metallurgy when upping the HP. If you go that route, then make sure you use the LBZ flexplate and harmonic balancer, as they are different.

I though the flexplates were the same lb7 lly lbz lmm just the flywheel was different and could you use a lbz crank lmm flywheel with a lly flexplate? :)

You may be right, but don't the aftermarket flexplates replace both flywheel and flexplate?

Never really checked, but you probably can. If they are balanced as a pair together though, you'd be best keeping them a set.

LBZ/LMM flexplate/flywheels have 4 large holes, and LB7/LLY have 3.

LBZ/LMM harmonic balancers have a counterweight that is ~180 deg, but the LB7/LLY is about 90 deg.

They do bolt on, it's just that you put the engine out of balance. Both engine are externally balanced, but with different amounts of weight.

It's ok ben. I know what you mean. After pulling out a built motor a couple of times for stuff like this it kind of makes you want to go back to stock and just drive it, in fear of something else breaking.
