Yup was talkin about this with the boss and over on Pirate.

Holley filed for bankruptcy protection last week too!

Well this is going to be common place now that obama and the "anti racing " democrates (EPA Pushers) are in office.

So get used to it....sad but true.

Not the right board for politics, not the right area for politics, and not the right thread for politics.

But I'm puzzled as to what the new President has done already to kill Crane Cams or Holley? Trust me, he wasn't a real big customer of theirs to begin with.

we we'retalking about this on gmfs...crane just entered the LSx game WAY too late to be able to compete.

Anymore in this marketplace you have to stay ontop of current performace parts, thats how comp/vinci/patriot/etc all make their profits. There will always be a demand for SBC/BBC and counterpart motors but theres going to be a larger demand in newer technologies, especially as fast as car makers are developing new motors these days.

Shame to see them go because we need more parts as is, but the top companies are the ones that are willing to re-tool or expand their product catalog as fast as the new motors are being torn apart for forged builds.

Only problem with that statement is Crane grinds Vincis cams;)

they grind them but they didnt jump on the market fast enough. I'd look for vinci to either buy the rest of the cam blanks and grind their own or be like many many other people and get comp to grind them.

I was just saying according to your post you say Crane was late into the game unlike Vinci but that makes no sense, since Crane grinds Vincis cams. Vinci also doesnt have a machine to grind cams so there would be no reason for them to buy blanks, Vinci is just a middleman resaler, nothing else. Its not like calling up Comp and ordering a cam.

Comp cams will make you anything you want. im sure if demand is there that would include most of the valve train.

Crane was an icon, they will be missed.

I'm sure with economics being what they are lately, you will hear the words "bankrupcy" and "restructuring" a lot in the near future. Crane made a good product, and had a long standing name. Who knows if they will actually be gone for good. Let's hope not.

some Chinese company will say they are the new makers of crane cams. Same product, half the price.
That's 1/2 the problem! Crane and other US companies spend bucks on research to field a new cam and for $10 a Chinese company copies the profile and sells for 1/3 the price since they have no R&D cost.

:cry::cry: That really sucks arse:mad: Crane is my fave cam company and thats our cam brand choice #1. Im not a fan of COMP's cams or Lunati, which are the others we've run. Cant speak for the other companys. I like Comps Magnum rockers though. Crane had other great parts besides cams though too! Nice timing chain sets, Pushrods and other things amongst IMO the best traditional rocker arms made aside from shaft rockers, their Gold Race rockers are bad ass......Hope, they can re-emerge someday soon.

Lets pray no other aftermarket parts companys bite the dust:please:
