I have seen cracked forged mahle pistons and melted forged mahle pistons. Haven't seen an arias forged piston fail. Not saying there isn't just haven't seen it.

And how many Arias are out there compared to Mahle? There are a lot of variables when comparing things.

So far I think that the bowl of Fingers pistons and the bowl of the Arias are the best that I have seen. Each keep as much of the burn in the bowl with little to no flash outside the bowl. That is a good thing in my opinion.

I think Jon is onto something with the oval bowl, but his pistons haven't been proven. When there is a set that lasts 100,000 miles, has had 600 1/4 mile passes in the 10's with a truck that weighs 7000lbs that's when they will be proven. Until then a forged piston from arias is what I think is the best option for anyone going for 1000hp.

most likely i will have 100k on a set cast finger bowls before years out with an avg truck weight of 24,000lbs. im just shy of 60k right now.

im already past the milage most put on their trucks in a year

That's on a stock setup though correct? Like 400 hp?

closer to 300hp. (i started with a LBZ out of a van rated at 250hp) i still have a 4L85 tranny vs and allison in the truck. i havent built the 4L85 yet and i dont have the time get the truck re-wired for an allison plus all the other modifications that would be need to run a 6 speed alison..

basicly all i have done is bumps boost to 28psi timing to 22*WOT and remove a substantial amount of tq mangment. i currently have adaquate power to maintian 60-65mph with a full loads including up to 5% grades and pass if need be. truck is in my sig line

since i have yet to install a EGT. i dont know. the engine has been tuned efi live, since i put it in at 97,000. i honestly havent been worried about it since i run less fuel than a stock 06 LBZ, which from what i know its hard to get a stock truck past 1400*. im still running a stock LBZ charger as well with 4" straight pipe.

right now im more conserden with oil temps in the summer heat.. hauled a load from atlanta to fort worth.. about 800 mile trip. avg ECT was 195-200* and oil temp was ~245-250 with a 15-20mph head wind across I20. outside air temp was 80-90*.. normally im 185-190 ECT and 210-215* OT

No derail. I like to think egts play into the piston cracking thing a little bit. You being one of the only guys with fingers bowl design pulling big weight & mileage, I think may have some valuable info on the new bowl design. Get a Egt on there super curious to here what your running for temps on long hard pulls?

Did you put a oil cooler on yet?

currently working on it right now.. got ~ 400.00 in parts currently.
goal is to get OT +/-10* of ECT with a e-fan to provide aditional cooling, if needed. as well as to be semi modular so that i can add coolers to the stack, secondary tranny, fuel and or addional engine oil coolers ect..

i will be runing the fan on temp switches same idea as one does with ECT fans.

i'll either post it up in the oil cooling thread or start my own..

i was just up as cody's saw the arias piston he ran.. outside soot and flare marks from injection. you wouldnt know they had 40,000 miles on them just by looking at them..
