Just saw this on FB from Blackout Performance.

LML came in for head gaskets. Had a mini maxx and exhaust. When they pulled it apart it had 5 cracked pistons in it. All four on one side and one on the other side.

Like I said in the other thread, I get these phone calls on a weekly basis of them failing so I don't recommend them pistons for built motors.

even if they're $25/hole to replace that still sucks to think your motor has to get cracked open, and a cylinder/s rebuilt.

It was taken to Caleb and crew @ Blackout to repair head gaskets. Luckily he was conscious enough to check the pistons, another shop or dealer would overlook them and just slap heads back on.

Not sure how much it has to do with it but none of the piston squirters were centered in the piston holes, a few were what id call only getting half the spray into the hole at BDC.

Could not letting motor get up to temp before pulling that much weight cause cracked pistons? Especially with a hot tune? Just wondering.

Generally those box tunes have a safety in them to hold power back till temp comes up, least that's how my dd tune is and my edge was. I would figure it to pop a hg as it did before cracking pistons

I have tuned quite a few 650+ hp LMLs and around 1500+ LMLs i have tuned overall... I have not heard of anyone cracking pistons on them yet. My personal LML is running around 750+hp with 2600uS and 28* (its on borrowed time i know) and is still playing nice. Obviously, it is all a time bomb when we increase power.

H&S tunes are around 1400uS on hot with 18.9* of timing.... I would be willing to say either the following:

A.) Defective from factory

B.) Major abuse while running hot tuning

I am excited to see more and more LMLs modded and everyone TRULY push the limits. All i can speak from is my personal experience with them and my thoughts. Hope this adds a little!

I was looking at that in your pic, didn't look right, but I know nothing about an LML. My old truck had a ****ed up pattern but it was bad injectors and still wasn't off like that, looks like the injector seat were cut wrong almost.
