cracked downpipe bracket

I just noticed this, the mounting tab on my diamond eye downpipe broke off and left a hole in the pipe.

Is this common on LLY's ?

Awesome. What is the consensus on repair? Tack it in place as is, pull the pipe and give it a nice reweld? Seems like itit wants to be spaced back about 1/16" further than originally designed.

Any concern with cracking the flange at the turbo with the lower portion being unsupported?

They crack from the motor mounts flexing too much. Bolt your drivers side mount and it will quit breaking. I called diamond eye a long time ago and they sent me a new downpipe, no questions asked. If you don't want to mess with the engine mount, just weld the hole shut and don't mount the lower tab.

I put a strap all the way around mine and only welded it on the back side that way it pulls on whole thing instead of a inch and half spot

Mine broke and my buddy that never bolted his had no problem. When I got the warr replacement I cut off the mounting tab and never looked back

I Got some 120,000 miles towing with it setup like that.. :thumb:

I fabricated a strap that goes all the way around the down pipe on mine, did not want to risk it with these 2 items tugging on it from expansion and contraction on just the band clamp at the turbo if the tab broke. You probably could get away with no strap or just the tab with a straight pipe...

Talked to the tech guys at Diamond Eye, they said throw out the tab, weld the hole closed and forget about it. No concerns about the turbo flange cracking or anything like that.

How did you guys notice it cracked? Just fom exhaust noise or noticed it during regular maintenance?

My tow flows don't even have the tab to bolt them.
