Looking to upgrade cp3..is that the same as a lift pump or 2 separate things? Looking at airdog twin cp3s..any suggestions?

Completely different. Stock duramax has no lift pump. The cp3 draws fuel from the tank and forces into the rails. The lift pump is an add on that supplies fuel from the tank to the cp3 (injection pump) so that it doesn't have to strain so hard to pull fuel from the tank. If you don't know what a cp3 is you definitely don't need 2. Air dog is a good start though
i know what the cp3 is, i just didnt know if the limp pump was an add on or if it replaced the factory cp3. thanks for explaning it. im looking into getting an Airdog II df-165
Buy the Raptor it has regulator and keeps up with what you have it's made by Airdog and has lifetime warranty goes for $300. Very good pump I found since 2 yrs. ago I put it on. Have to put a gauge on output line and keep the flow set like 10 to12 psi I run anyway. Just my findings for the low cost and warranty it was a good deal. Just makes more noise than some but not that bad. I use 2 stroke oil and Power Service in my fuel also clean inflow stainless screen on Raptor every 6k miles and it's not bad if you have good clean fuels you run.
