New to the site wondering if I can get some help on a few injector questions. I am working on lower valve cover gaskets, and totally spaced the injectors coming out, so I did not buy any copper or o-rings.
I have 2004.5 LLY, with only 5.000 miles on new motor. The o-ring gaskets look great, the copper ones have a little black debris built up around them. (where the nozzle pokes through the copper ring) very minimal, but still some there. Not sure why any at all, all parts were new.
Is it common to have a little build up around the copper? Also, do I need new copper gaskets and o-rings before I put the injectors back in. I just ran a pick around the nozzle to knock the black stuff off. I have the slipped in the holes for alignment so I can torque the lower cover, so I still have time.
Also - one last kinda bummer, maybe not a big deal? I shop vacuumed the injector holes, used a rag on them, and the "blew" them out. I am starting to think I should not have blow them out at all. I did see some little things fly out of one injector hole. I am thinking it may have fallen off an injector when taking it out. (may have been so small or way in there? - is this gonna cause me any issue or not a big deal?
